THE Myanmar Edible Oil Deal-
ers’ Association (MEODA) is
leading efforts to ensure there
are no shortages of edible oil and
to facilitate smooth transport
during the Thingyan, and it was
discussed during a coordination
meeting with the Oil Tank Ter-
minal Supervisory Committee
held on 7 April.
The MEODA vice-chair and
the leader of the Oil Tank Ter-
minal Supervisory Committee
discussed the continuous arrival
of oil tankers before Thingyan,
efforts to store arriving oil in
terminals across the Yangon
Region and ensuring no delays
for ships to avoid extra charges
for importers.
Instructions were given to
ensure the smooth distribution
of both edible oil and industrial
raw material oil. Terminal op-
erators were told to manage
oil withdrawals effectively with
distributors. Taw Win Ayekarit
Company, which is responsible
for transportation, is committed
to ensuring oil reaches consum-
ers before the holiday begins.
A representative from MITS
discussed systematic storage
procedures. Arrangements are
being made for staff to remain
on standby to receive incoming
oil shipments.
The meeting emphasized
the systematic storage of re-
serve oil imported in April to en-
sure tanks are filled. The MEO-
DA reiterated its leadership role
in maintaining a steady supply
chain throughout the festival.
