THE Board of Trustees of the Shwe-
sandaw Pagoda in Pyay, Bago Region,
has announced plans to expand the pa-
goda’s southeast corner platform to 120
feet in length and 28 feet in width.
This expansion will significantly in-
crease the space available on the plat-
form for pilgrims. Once completed, the
area will offer a prime vantage point for
visitors to enjoy the scenic sunset over
the Ayeyawady River and the beautiful
view of the Ayeyawady Bridge.
The project is currently seeking do-
nors to help fund the construction. The
estimated cost is K200,000 per square
foot, and interested donors may con-
tact the Shwesandaw Pagoda Board of
Trustees directly to contribute.
Additionally, on 31 March, the 19th
annual offering of 1,000 items, including
flowers, water, oil lamps, food, fruits,
and banners, was held at the pagoda.
The ceremony was organized by the
Saturday Sweeping Association and the
Dhammapalakari recitation group. —
