AUTHORITIES have systematically demolished another illegal six-storey building used for online scam and gambling activities in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area.

The Government has treated the fight against online scams and online gambling as a national responsibility. To prevent such activities from resuming in illegal buildings in Shwe Kokko, where they were previously widespread, authorities have been systematically demolishing these structures.

Of the 63 remaining illegal buildings in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area designated for demolition because they were used for online scam and gambling activities, four were earmarked for demolition by controlled explosions. One of these six-storey buildings was demolished using explosives today. The remaining buildings will also be systematically demolished, according to reports.

The 63 buildings designated for demolition in Phase II have been classified according to the methods to be used. Of these, 25 are to be demolished using machinery, four by controlled explosions, and 34, located close to residential homes, are to be dismantled floor by floor by workers to avoid damaging nearby houses.

The building demolished yesterday was another six-storey structure among those designated for demolition by controlled explosions.

The Government is placing particular emphasis on working with neighbouring countries and regional partners to eradicate online scams and gambling activities, which pose growing threats to global socioeconomic affairs and national security, according to reports.
