A collective cleaning activity was carried out along Taungzalat Road in Kyinmwal Ward, Falam, Chin State, yesterday morning to maintain cleanliness and beautify the town. Police personnel and staff from relevant departments took part.

Deputy Minister for Construction Dr Thaung Naing visited the site and encouraged the participants.

In the afternoon, the deputy minister, together with the Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, met officials from relevant departments at the City Hall to discuss rehabilitation work.

The deputy minister called for rehabilitation, infrastructure, repair and construction works to be carried out systematically and in accordance with prescribed standards. He also stressed the need to repair roads and transport facilities damaged during the monsoon to improve transport and help reduce commodity prices, and to facilitate the systematic return of displaced residents to their places of origin.

Officials from relevant ministries reported on rehabilitation activities and requirements, and the necessary measures were coordinated.

The deputy minister and officials later inspected facilities at Falam General Hospital and the temporary hospital. — MNA/KZL
