YBS buses will not be permitted to resume stopping at the bus stop in front of Maha Bandoola Park in Kyauktada Township, said Colonel Win Tint, Minister for Security and Border Affairs of the Yangon Region Government.

The minister made these remarks during a Hluttaw session on 31 August while responding to an inquiry by MP U Kyaw Lin, from Kamayut Township Constituency, No 2, who pointed out the convenience of that stop as well as the inconvenience and safety risks of walking to a far stop for commuters.

Regarding this matter, combined inspection team conducted a field survey on 3 August and found that the buses have been banned from using this stop since 2021 due to security reasons.

“Because this bus stop is situated right in front of Maha Bandoola Park and Yangon City Hall, the Yangon City Development Committee submitted an objection for security concerns as well as its position directly facing the City Hall premises,” said the minister.

Therefore, YBS buses will continue to operate only at the Pansodan bus stop, according to the regional government. — TWA/ZN
