President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, currently on an official visit to Minsk, Belarus, held a joint meeting with Mr Igor Petrovich Sergeyenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus (lower house), and Ms Natalya Kochanova, Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus (upper house), at the National Assembly in Minsk at 2:30 pm local standard time yesterday.

Upon arrival at the National Assembly of Belarus for the meeting, the President was warmly welcomed by the speakers of the lower and upper houses.

Following the welcome, the President and the two parliamentary speakers posed for a commemorative photo together.

Following the initial welcome, the leaders held a meeting in the conference hall and cordially discussed several key aspects of bilateral relations, including Myanmar’s role as a trusted friend of Belarus in South-East Asia, supported by close personal friendship, mutual trust and strong cooperation between the leaders of the two nations; the ongoing implementation of the Myanmar-Belarus Cooperation Roadmap (2026-2028) and the successful signing of key bilateral treaties and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the official visit; the expansion of cooperation between the two countries and their respective parliaments for the benefit of their citizens, including the formation of parliamentary friendship groups, mutual study visits and collaboration on legislative matters; mutual support at international forums and the history of election observation teams being dispatched between the two countries, with the Belarusian Parliament congratulating Myanmar on the successful holding of its elections; and further cooperation between organizations, youth groups and women’s affairs entities to promote friendship and multifaceted ties between the two countries.

Following the meeting, the Speakers of the Belarusian Parliament warmly saw off the President.
