The state-level bilateral meeting between Myanmar and Belarus was held at 11:50 am local standard time yesterday at the Presidential Palace in Minsk, Belarus. The meeting was attended and co-chaired by President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing and President of the Republic of Belarus Mr Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The two leaders held cordial and frank discussions on the ongoing implementation of the Myanmar-Belarus Cooperation Roadmap (2026-2028) and ways to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors, including defence and security, trade and investment, livestock, industry, space technology, education and youth, finance, healthcare, science and technology, and culture and tourism.

Following the high-level bilateral talks, a ceremony was held to sign and exchange nine agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the governments of Myanmar and Belarus, covering mutual legal assistance in civil, commercial and criminal matters; cooperation between the Union Election Commission of Myanmar and the Central Election Commission of Belarus; the development of a small Earth observation remote-sensing satellite for the Myanmar Space Agency; scientific and technological cooperation between the Myanmar Space Agency and Belarusian State University; cooperation between the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) and the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR); a framework credit agreement between Myanmar’s Ministry of Finance and Revenue and JSC “Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus”; and cooperation between Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) and the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus.

The documents were signed and exchanged by Myanmar’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation and relevant Union ministers alongside their Belarusian counterparts, in the presence of the President of Myanmar and the President of the Republic of Belarus. Following their talks, the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the President of the Republic of Belarus delivered joint statements to the media, details of which will be reported separately.

Subsequently, the Belarusian President hosted a working lunch in honour of the President and his delegation. During the lunch, a Belarusian orchestra performed musical pieces from both countries. Following the conclusion of the official ceremonies, the President of the Republic of Belarus accompanied President U Min Aung Hlaing to his vehicle and saw him off.
