The Ayeyawady Region government and the Ayeyawady Foundation yesterday provided relief supplies to flood-affected residents of Aingthapyu Village in Laymyethna Township. The assistance included rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, coffee mix, drinking water, medicines and other essential food items.
Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw and officials met affected residents and presented the aid. The chief minister also inspected damage to Bridge No 1/6 on the Laymyethna-Aingthapyu-Ngathainggyoung road, which was damaged by erosion, and reviewed efforts to construct a Bailey bridge.
Since flooding began in wards and village-tracts across Laymyethna Township, government departments, the Tatmadaw, the Myanmar Police Force, the Fire Services Department, the Myanmar Red Cross Society and social welfare organizations have been carrying out relief and rescue operations. Charity groups, individual donors, social organizations and artists from across the country have also been providing daily assistance through local coordination centres.
