For patients who need to take ART, the Ministry of Health has ensured there is no shortage of the drugs, said Dr Sithu Aung, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health, in the opening ceremony of the review meeting on immunodeficiency (HIV/AIDS) programme for 2023, 2024 and 2025 held in Nay Pyi Taw.
He added that the ministry has been working in line with the National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS prevention and medication programme, jointly with allied organizations, HIV infected network, target group networks and the community.
He said the ministry thanked all stakeholders in the ART medication programme – health staff, local non-governmental organizations, international non-governmental organizations, community-based networks and patients’ access to the medication.
The meeting was held from 10 to 11 December for two days and attended by deputy directors-general of the public health department, regional and state public health department heads, physicians, officials from the National Programme on HIV/AIDS, directors, hospital superintendents, professors and department heads, officials from National Health Laboratory, delegation of UNOPS, WHO, UNAIDS and allied organizations and delegates from local social organizations.
