A total of 125 Indian citizens who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes from Thailand and some neighbouring countries and committed crimes in Myawady-Shwe Kokko and Mawhtawthalay (KK Park) of Kayin State were handed over to the relevant country under the law via the Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge II, as a gesture of humanitarian assistance and good neighbourly relations.
Kayin State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col Min Thu Kyaw, officials from Tatmadaw and BGF inspected the Building 8 (seven-storey)in Shwe Kokko area from 1 pm to 6 pm on 18 November and arrested 65 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar together with 80 computers and 4,800 mobile phones, 75 illegal foreign entrants at Building 06 (seven-storey) with 73 computers and 6,500 mobile phones and 206 illegal foreign entrants with 161 computers and 7,500 mobile phones at the 13-storey Chen Sein Building.
Those 346 foreign nationals were detained at the building of Lonhtinwun of Shwe Kokkomyaing Village of Pulwepu Village-tract in Myawady Township. The illegal foreigner investigation team verified 200 foreigners. Kayin State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col Min Thu Kyaw, Director U Kyaw Myint of the Ministry of Immigration and Population and officials viewed the process of compilation of the data from the illegal migrants to be handed over to relevant countries as quickly as possible.
On 19 November, Chairman of Myawady District Management and Administration Committee U Soe Hlaing, Deputy Director U Kyaw Kyaw Than of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, Counsellor Mr Pranav Ganesh of the Indian Embassy to Thailand and officials from the Tak Province’s Immigration Department of Thailand attended the ceremony to hand over the foreign nationals. Officials of Myanmar handed over relevant documents to officials from relevant countries.
A total of 11,186 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar were detained from 30 January to 19 November 2025, 11,040 of whom were verified. A total of 9,978 foreign nationals have been handed over to relevant countries under the law and procedures through Thailand. Now, it is ready to hand over the remaining 1,208 foreign nationals to the relevant countries.
