MYANMAR’S women’s national football team suffered an 0-8 defeat by DPR Korea in their second Group F match at the XX Asian Games in Japan yesterday.

Myanmar struggled against one of Asia’s top teams because of the gap in playing standards and conceded eight goals despite efforts to limit the damage. Following heavy defeats by the Republic of Korea and DPR Korea in their opening two matches, Myanmar’s chances of finishing among the two best third-placed teams have become difficult, although one group matchremains.

In the other Group F match, the Republic of Korea defeated Bangladesh 6-0. DPR Korea and the Republic of Korea have secured six points each from two matches and qualified for the quarterfinals, while Myanmar and Bangladesh remain without a point.
