THE Yangon Region Police Force is conducting operations to reduce crime and combat criminal activities. According to the Yangon Region Police Force, a suspect wanted in connection with the murder and robbery of Daw Khin Moe Kyi, who lived alone in an apartment on the first floor of Building No 45 at the corner of Mingala Theikdhi Street and Dhammapala Street in Bahan Township, was arrested at the Waiting Lodge Hotel in PyinOoLwin on 1 September.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of 28 August while Daw Khin Moe Kyi was alone in her apartment. The suspect, Nyan Soe, a friend of her son, Maung Moe Myint Myat, allegedly killed her and stole her gold jewellery. He subsequently sold some of the jewellery in South Okkalapa Township before staying at the hotel in PyinOoLwin. Following an investigation, police arrested Nyan Soe, a resident of South Okkalapa Township, at the hotel and seized evidence related to the case.
A case has been opened at Bahan Police Station under Section 302 of the Penal Code (Case No 268/2026). The Yangon Region Police Chief praised the police for identifying and arresting the suspect within a few days of the crime.
