The Mon State government is planning to revive the No 21 Heavy Industry (Thaton Tyre Factory) to produce tyres domestically using raw rubber sourced from Mon State.

Investments, including Public-Private Partnership (PPP), are welcome to boost the domestic manufacturing sector, transform locally produced raw rubber materials into value-added products, and restart operations at the factory.

The factory is located near Kyapann village on the Thaton-Hpa-an Road in Thaton Township. Built with Czech technology, it began operations in 1985, producing bias tyres. Nonetheless, production was suspended around 2015-2016 due to electricity shortages, technological constraints, and machinery issues.
