More than 20,000 flood-affected residents in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyawady Region, have received food supplies and cash assistance totalling over K143 million, according to the Office of the President.
Flooding in Laymyethna Township has affected 4,749 houses, 4,815 households and 20,354 people. As of now, 1,889 people are taking shelter in 11 relief camps opened across the township.
Affected residents have been provided with food items, including instant noodles, canned fish, eggs and drinking water, as well as cash assistance.
In addition, more than 1,000 personnel from the Tatmadaw, the Myanmar Police Force, the Fire Services Department, the General Administration Department, the Myanmar Red Cross Society, and social welfare groups are assisting with evacuation efforts. A total of 34 fibre boats, 35 motorboats and 28 vehicles have been deployed to relocate residents to safer areas.
