Authorities arrested 41 Chinese nationals for illegally entering Myanmar in Tachilek Township, eastern Shan State, during operations targeting illegal border crossings linked to efforts to combat online scam operations.
Security forces first detained two Chinese men near the Waelelan joint checkpoint before follow-up operations led to the arrest of another 39 Chinese nationals near Wanpon village, bringing the total to 41.
The suspects, comprising 40 men and one woman, are being held for legal action under Myanmar’s immigration law, authorities said.
