THE Bago Region Government has purchased a high-speed fibre-glass boat to strengthen efforts to intercept the illegal transport of goods on the Ayeyawady River, enhance law enforcement activities and support disaster rescue operations.
The vessel was handed over by Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win to Bago Region Police Force Commander Police Colonel Tin Myo Htoo on the morning of 1 August on the bank of the Ayeyawady River in Pyay, according to the Bago Region Government.
The boat, valued at more than K180 million, is 27 feet long, nine feet wide, and 4.5 feet high, with a one-foot draught. It is powered by a Suzuki DF-200A (Japan) engine. — Region IPRD/KNN
