THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, inspected the construction progress of a rural production road and related work in Lelhtwe (old village) Village, Loikaw Township, yesterday. The project is being implemented to help farmers transport agricultural produce from their farmlands to markets at a lower cost.
Kayah State Department of Rural Development Head U Myint, Loikaw District Department of Rural Development Head Daw Ei Ei Khin, Township Department of Rural Development Head U Nya Rel and engineering staff inspected the construction of a 3.04-furlong rural production road and its related work in Lelhtwe Village. They also met representatives of Six-Rays Company and members of the village road committee, and discussed the need to give priority to completing the work within the prescribed period and in accordance with required quality standards, while coordinating issues raised by local communities.
The rural production road and related projects are being implemented by Six-Rays Company with funding provided under the State budget, under the technical supervision and close monitoring of the township department. The project was launched in the second week of July this year. Upon completion, the road will benefit 178 households with a population of 771 people and improve access to 120 acres of farmland.
