The 26 Myanmar seamen, fully verified as Myanmar nationals, departed from Port Blair, India, and arrived in Yangon on 23 July.
In facilitating this repatriation process, the Embassy of Myanmar in New Delhi and the the Consulate-General in Kolkata closely coordinated with the Indian officials. Necessary approvals were sought for the repatriation of the Myanmar seamen, and Certificates of Identity (CI) were issued for their return journey.
The relevant officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Immigration and Population welcomed them back at the Yangon International Airport.
The government has been placing special emphasis on addressing the affairs of its citizens living abroad. Through Myanmar embassies and consulates abroad, necessary consular assistance and support are being continuously provided to Myanmar nationals who face difficulties and hardships in foreign countries for various reasons, including assistance, rescue, and arrangements for their safe return to Myanmar.
