THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar places high value on the well-being of its citizens abroad. Whenever Myanmar nationals face difficulties in foreign countries, Myanmar embassies and consulates-general coordinate with the relevant local authorities and embassies to ensure that those in distress can be safely and swiftly repatriated.

In line with this commitment, the Myanmar Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has assisted in the repatriation of a Myanmar citizen, Ma Thet Hmu Ein, who had encountered difficulties while working in Saudi Arabia and had been held at the Expatriates Management Detention Centre in Madinah.

Through close coordination between the Myanmar Embassy, the Myanmar Consulate-General, and the Expatriates Management Detention Centre, arrangements were made for her return to Myanmar. She departed Saudi Arabia on 23 April via the Jeddah–Bangkok– Yangon route and safely arrived in Yangon at 8:45 pm the same day.

The Myanmar Government continues to assist citizens who face hardships while working abroad by coordinating through its embassies and consulates. Ma Thet Hmu Ein’s family members and relatives have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Myanmar Government, the Myanmar Embassy, and the Consulate-General for successfully rescuing and repatriating her. — Kyaw  Gyi/MKKS
