DEPUTY Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Than Swe received Ms Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Myanmar, yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
They discussed matters to be coordinated between Myanmar and the United Nations concerning assistance and response efforts for the people affected by the earthquake. The Special Envoy also expressed her sincere condolences and empathy for the loss of lives and livelihoods caused by the Mandalay earthquake that struck Myanmar.
Also, present at the meeting were senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. — MNA
