KACHIN State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and Northern Command Commander Maj-Gen Aung Zaw Htwe inspected the Bala Min Htin combined checkpoint in Myitkyina to review security operations and ensure smoother cargo flow.

During the visit, the chief minister instructed personnel to prioritize public safety, streamline clearances for authorized goods, and strictly avoid extortion or unauthorized fees. The inspection team also toured the border cargo inspection station in Mongna Village, Waingmaw Township, reviewing driver rest facilities and discussing plans to deploy additional staff to expedite clearance times.

Following temporary closures due to regional instability, the local border trade was resumed in March 2026 before relocating to the current Mongna station in late August. Between April and October 2026, the station handled 3,707 commercial trucks with trade totalling $36.015 million—a $10.048 million increase over the 2025- 2026 financial year. — State IPRD/ST
