The Government is extending an invitation to those involved in various armed groups, including the PDF, to return to the legal framework. Those who do so are being provided with necessary assistance and support.
Yesterday, a total of 52 KNLA members and PDFs-47 males and five females, entered the legal fold with 23 arms and ammunition.
The returnees from different townships of Bago Region were handed over to their parents and guardians at a ceremony held at the Southern Command Headquarters.
The returnees handed over 23 firearms, eight hand grenades, nine magazines, 207 bullets, one plastic mine, two 40mm grenades, one bulletproof hat and eight communication devices to the Commander and officials. Then, the Commander and officials provided a total of K88.3 million in reward money and support, including K83.1 million for the weapons and equipment and K5.2 million for the 52 returnees.
Those who reentered the legal fold were required to sign pledges, after which they were systematically handed back to their parents and guardians.
There are still individuals who wish to re-enter the legal framework. Those who intend to do so are urged to promptly contact and report to the nearest district or township administrative bodies, military units, or police stations, where they will be welcomed back and provided with necessary assistance. Appropriate cash rewards will be granted for the arms and ammunition. — MNA/KTZH
