MYANMAR nationals who had faced difficulties in Malaysia and returned to the country on 4 October were repatriated to their respective hometowns, with 142 returnees from Taninthayi Region arriving in Myeik from Yangon yesterday morning.

The 142 returnees were transported from Yangon to Myeik aboard the naval vessel Pyidawaye 4. They were welcomed at Seikngebu Jetty by the local air base commander, the chair of the Myeik District Management and Administration Committee, departmental officials and representatives of social organisations.

The returnees were temporarily accommodated at the district sports hall, where officials conducted health examinations and checked their UID, e-ID and PSMS records before arranging their transfer to their respective townships.

The government continues to prioritize assistance, rescue and repatriation efforts for Myanmar nationals who face difficulties abroad for various reasons. — Khaing Htoo (IPRD)/KZL
