MYANMAR U17 and Indian U17 drew 1-1 in their first friendly match at Star City Stadium in Thanlyin, Yangon, on 4 October as both teams prepare for the 2027 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers in November. The match was Myanmar U17’s final international friendly about a month before the qualifiers.
Myanmar led 1-0 until the 70th minute before India equalised from a penalty in the 71st minute. Both sides launched attacks from the start. In the 41st minute, Myanmar captain Aung Myat Thar made a run from the halfway line before scoring from inside the penalty area to put Myanmar ahead. Both teams continued to attack in the second half, with India’s Janti converting a penalty in the 71st minute to level the score.
The Myanmar U17 team is also competing in the domestic M-League U20 league under the name Galaxy to provide the players with more competitive experience. The second friendly between Myanmar U17 and Indian U17 will be played at Star City Stadium in Thanlyin, Yangon, at 3:30 pm on 5 October.
