Reconstruction of staff housing damaged by the Mandalay earthquake in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area is moving forward rapidly, with 293 buildings comprising 4,668 units currently underway.
Located across Dhana Theikdhi Ward, the work includes two senior officer buildings with 12 units, 61 buildings with 976 units in Plot 8-A, 40 buildings with 640 units in Plot 8-B, 78 buildings with 1,248 units in Plot 3, and 112 buildings with 1,792 units in Plot 4. The Ministry of Construction is closely supervising the entire development to ensure quality standards and timely completion.
During a site inspection on 26 September, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant instructed teams to prioritize early-finishing units to swiftly rehouse civil servants displaced into temporary modular shelters. He stressed the importance of earthquake resilience, urging close collaboration with technical experts, structural engineers, and contractors. The Union Minister also directed that key utility infrastructure — including concrete access roads, electricity, water supply, and drainage networks — be completed concurrently with the residential blocks.
