Nay Pyi Taw, September 23 — Through the Myanmar Embassy in Singapore, Time Magazine proposed and requested an interview to feature the Myanmar government’s historic role in safeguarding the non-disintegration of the Union and national solidarity, its efforts for the peace and stability of Myanmar, and the success of the peace talks under the title “The Future of Myanmar”. Recognizing Time Magazine as a reputable news agency and in a constructive response to the request, the President received reporter Charlie Campbell and answered his questions.
However, when published on Time Magazine Online Media, the piece was written in an article format rather than the original question-and-answer interview format, and it failed to reflect the actual answers provided. Furthermore, it included unwarranted and unconstructive remarks, as well as interviews and reviews from other individuals. In violation of media ethics, Time Magazine and the reporter highlighted topics that were not included in the initial agreement and arbitrarily wrote as they pleased using terms that would cause the international community to misunderstand the Myanmar government and the country. Therefore, it is reported that the Information Team released a statement condemning the writings of Time Magazine reporter Charlie Campbell for failing to uphold and observe media ethics.
