THE European Union announced 10.5 million euros in humanitarian assistance for Myanmar to support communities affected by displacement and natural disasters, including recent flash floods.
The funding will provide life-saving support, including emergency healthcare, food assistance, protection services, shelter, water and sanitation supplies. With this latest contribution, total EU humanitarian aid to Myanmar for 2026 now stands at €49.1 million.
The World Food Programme (WFP) has begun responding to flood-affected communities in Ayeyawady Region’s Laymyethna Township, distributing 20 metric tonnes of fortified biscuits to support 10,000 flood-stricken people. WFP continues to assess needs and will expand relief operations to the most vulnerable areas in other regions and states. — ASH/KK
