A total of 156 individuals involved in illegal online scam and gambling operations were arrested along with a large quantity of equipment during a security operation in Kengtung Township, Shan State (East), yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, the authorities arrested 156 suspects, comprising 140 Chinese men, four Chinese women, one Lao woman, eight Myanmar men and three Myanmar women, and seized 658 mobile phones, 134 all-in-one desktop computers, 28 laptops, three Wi-Fi routers, 13 Starlink Gen-3 devices, 15 CPUs, five UPS units, one 120-kVA generator, one 155-kVA generator, one refrigerator and one freezer.
The offenders will face action under the existing law after proper examination, and the seized materials will be managed in accordance with the procedures. — MNA/KTZH
