Myanmar and Bangladesh discussed the potential development of a natural gas pipeline and energy trade between the two countries last Sunday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh U Kyaw Soe Moe met with Mr Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh, at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on 2 August 2026. Both sides exchanged views on the gas pipeline project, bilateral energy trade, and the importance of neighbouring ties.
Myanmar and Bangladesh also negotiated bilateral trade promotion and maritime transport cooperation, including the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the last week of July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
