Recognizing the electricity sector’s pivotal role in economic growth, improved living standards, and socioeconomic stability, the government has made power development a national priority. However, PDF terrorists are carrying out attacks on electricity infrastructure and other development projects through various means. They exploded Tower No 338 of the 132-kV Nyaungbingyi-Buddhagon transmission line near Paunglaungkan Village in Pakokku Township on 19 July. As a result of the attack, the transmission tower collapsed.
Such a destructive act caused a sudden power outage affecting innocent civilians in Pakokku, Yazagyo, Myaing, and Kamma townships, creating numerous difficulties for residents in their daily lives and socioeconomic activities.
After the incident, electrical staff from the Gangaw and Ohntaw Transmission Line Offices, the Buddhagon Main Substation, and the Township Electrical Engineer’s Office under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, in cooperation with the relevant security forces, worked day and night continuously for four days to restore the damaged infrastructure and ensure the earliest possible resumption of electricity supply. On 23 July, repairs to the damaged Tower No 338 were completed, enabling electricity transmission to resume to the affected areas in Pakokku and Yazagyo townships.
The destruction of major power lines caused disruptions to people’s daily lives. With government guidance and the combined efforts of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy staff and civicminded citizens, electricity supply was swiftly restored, bringing relief and joy to local communities.
