An Indian company will build a soybean crushing, oil extraction and refining plant in Pathein Industrial Zone to produce refined soybean oil for the domestic market, according to the Ayeyawady Region government.
The project will be implemented through cooperation between Green Rise Company Limited of Myanmar and Super Power Trading Company Private Limited of India. The joint venture will purchase black gram produced in Ayeyawady Region for processing and export to India, while importing soybean meal for fish feed production to supply fish farms across the region.
The companies also plan to export about 20,000 tonnes of black gram per month, or around 200,000 tonnes a year, together with other products from the region, from Pathein Port to Chennai Port in India. They will also import Indian products required for the domestic market, according to the report. — ASH/KZL
