Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr Thaung Naing Oo and his team attended the 14th Meeting of the Sub-Regional Ministerial Steering Committee on Transboundary Haze Pollution, in the Mekong Sub-region held in Vientiane, Laos, on 25 June.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Laos, delivered the opening speech. The meeting was chaired by Dr Sai Nakhong Inthaboun, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Laos, and co-chaired by Deputy Minister Dr Thaung Naing Oo.
Dr Thaung Naing Oo emphasized that Myanmar, together with Thailand and Laos, is jointly implementing the CLEAR Sky Strategy (2024-2030) to address transboundary haze pollution.
The meeting was attended by more than 30 ministers, deputy ministers, high-level representatives, and subject matter experts from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Specialized Meteorological Centre (ASMC).
