Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Ko Lay, together with regional ministers, inspected flood prevention and preparedness measures along the Chindwin River embankments in Monywa yesterday.
He checked embankment strengthening works, readiness of rescue boats, and emergency response drills being conducted in preparation for possible river water level rise during the monsoon season. He also observed sandbag barriers placed at vulnerable flood-prone areas in the city.
During the inspection, he instructed relevant departments to ensure adequate rescue equipment, maintain the strength of embankments, and complete all preventive measures in a systematic and timely manner. He also coordinated necessary arrangements on-site to improve flood protection readiness.
