Security forces have cleared and safely removed a total of 20 improvised mines planted near Twinma village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, along the Kanma–Myaing road.
According to reports, PDF-linked armed groups allegedly placed various types of explosive devices along the road linking Pakokku Township, Kanma, and Myaing Township, with the intention of causing casualties, damage, and disruption to transport.
Following information provided by residents, security forces carried out area security measures and continued mine-clearance operations along the route.
On 16 June, personnel discovered and safely cleared 20 improvised explosive devices on both sides of the road near Twinma village. These included eight large vehicle mines made from oil drums, three small vehicle mines made from yellow plastic containers, five improvised directional mines, and four PVC pipe-based devices.
Officials confirmed that all devices were safely rendered inactive and systematically removed.
Authorities added that security operations and legal action are continuing to identify and apprehend those responsible, while ensuring the safety of public transport routes in the area. — MNA/KZL
