A total of 1,250 eye patients received free medical screenings on 9 June, marking the first day of the 18th Eye Donation Programme held at the Sitagu Eyecare Hospital in Yangon.
According to the medical records, 739 screenings were conducted on the first day, followed by 511 screenings on the second day. Among these patients, more than 340 individuals have been identified as genuinely requiring ophthalmic surgery.
From this group, the first 50 patients will undergo surgical treatment. It has been announced that the remaining registered patients will be systematically included in the upcoming 19th Eye Donation Programme.
The Sitagu Eyecare Hospital (Yangon) continuously organizes these eye donation programmes to restore sight to the visually impaired and ensure the public has ongoing access to essential eye care. — TWA/KNN
