Security forces have arrested Wint Hlwa Aung, also known as Sit Nyein May, who served as adjutant of the terrorist PDF Hinthada District Battalion 3, in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region, on 10 October 2026.

The NUG, CRPH and their subordinate PDF terrorist groups, which have been designated as terrorist organizations by the Government, have been committing assassinations of Buddhist monks, civil servants, including teachers, and civilians, as well as robberies, mine attacks targeting public recreational venues and indiscriminate bombings and destruction of public infrastructure associated with the Government, to disrupt administrative mechanisms.

As security forces continue round-the-clock operations to identify and apprehend those involved in such activities, they have been acting on tip-offs and complaints secretly provided by residents who oppose terrorism and actions undermining State stability.

According to the confession of the arrested woman, she attended military training conducted by Brigade 7 of the KNU, which has also been designated a terrorist organization, from May to June 2021. She subsequently participated in terrorist activities, holding various positions, including office in-charge, adjutant and quartermaster, at Brigade 7, Hinthada District Battalion 1, the Ayeyawady Yoma Column and Hinthada District Battalion 3.

In July 2025, she returned to Yangon and continued carrying out administrative and logistical support duties for Hinthada District Battalion 3.

Investigations further revealed that, after assuming the post of adjutant of Hinthada District Battalion 3, Wint Hlwa Aung compiled personnel lists, facilitated the transfer of funds for terrorist activities, submitted daily gazette reports and forwarded reports on casualties and injuries.

She also used online mobile financial services to receive and transfer operational funds for the battalion. In addition, she re-transferred quarterly salaries allocated by the terrorist Ministry of Defence (MOD) and donations from supporters under arrangements made by Ye Kyaw Thu, also known as Ye Gaung, a battalion commander-ranked official of Hinthada District Battalion 3.

Legal action will be taken against Wint Hlwa Aung, also known as Sit Nyein May, under the Counter-Terrorism Law.

The public is urged to cooperate in preventing and combating terrorism. Anyone with information about the hideouts or movements of so-called PDF terrorist members is requested to report it confidentially to the relevant authorities. Appropriate cash rewards will be provided confidentially to informants and those assisting in the arrests. — MNA/ST
