The Pyithu Hluttaw’s second regular session continued for the sixth day at its convention hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
A total of 349 out of 351 Pyithu Hluttaw representatives attended the session, accounting for 99.43 per cent.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin responded to the queries raised by U Kyaw Nyein Aung from the Tachilek Constituency and explained the plans to construct 14 bridges, 2,136 feet long brick drains, and new retaining walls in Ponhtun, Yanaungmyay, Mekong and Macaokham wards of Tachilek in the 2026-27 financial year for the prevention of floods.
Deputy Minister for Transport U Aung Myaing replied to the question raised by Dr Aung Gyi from the Kyaiklat Constituency, saying that a total of 27 EV taxis are being run under the arrangement of the Nay Pyi Taw Council and nine more taxis by private owners in Nay Pyi Taw. The ministry will allow applications from private owners and companies for running EV taxis under the procedures.
The deputy minister continued his explanations for the questions raised by U Ye Htut Aung from the Minhla Constituency. He said that unregistered vehicles of social organizations have been registered from 7 to 31 July 2024. The Road Transport Administration Department verifies documents and allows registration of legally imported ambulances and hearses, but cannot allow illegally imported vehicles due to a lack of documents.
Deputy Minister for Digital Development and Communications U Thet Win Aung answered the questions submitted by U Kaung Thet San from the Hsipaw Constituency. He said that a total of 72 out of 92 MPT, ATOM, U9 and Mytel towers provide mobile communication services to the people in Hsipaw Township round the clock, but the remaining 20 facilities cannot operate regularly due to the fuel issue. If they are supplied electricity and fuel as usual, they can provide services full-time.
The deputy minister also replied to the questions raised by U Sai Sam from the Mongyang Constituency. He said that based on the results of field surveys and measurements, mobile stations will be built on an annual financial year basis for construction, provided that they comply with the rules and requirements for meeting basic telecommunications needs.
Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing responded to the questions raised by U Hla Min from the Ngazun Constituency, saying that a total of 61 out of 127 schools were opened in Ngazun Township. Plans were earmarked to reopen eight more schools in the township in the 2025-26 academic year, but only Thabyaytha BEPS could be opened. School heads and teachers are attached to the opening schools for serving their duties at their respective schools when these are opened.
The deputy minister also answered the questions raised by U Sai Loung from the Mongping Constituency and said that in the 2026-2027 academic year, education diploma holders and graduates from the education degree colleges will be assigned to 26 BEPSs in Mongping Township on a priority basis to meet staffing needs.
He also replied to the questions raised by U Win Zaw from the Pindaya Constituency, saying that one 90 by 30 feet RCC building will be built at Thabyaygon BEMS Branch in Pindaya Township in the 2027-28 financial year, depending on the budget allocation.
Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi sought the approval of the Hluttaw to form relevant Hluttaw committees. As such, the Pyithu Hluttaw approved the Farmers’ Affairs Committee chaired by Kanbalu Constituency Representative U Myat Kyaw, the Youth, Woman, Child and Aged Rights Committee chaired by Yenangyoung Constituency Representative Daw Win Maw Tun, the Education Promotion Committee chaired by Bahan Constituency Representative Dr Hla Tint, and the Internal/External Labour Affairs Committee chaired by Dagon Myothit (North) Constituency Representative U Tint Wai.
Moreover, the Speaker submitted proposals to the Hluttaw for formation of the Minerals, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Committee chaired by Pyinmana Constituency Representative U Khin Maung Htay, the Citizens’ Fundamental Rights, Democracy and Human Rights Committee chaired by Pobbathiri Constituency Representative U Hla Swe, the Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development Committee chaired by Kyaiklat Constituency Representative Dr Aung Gyi, and the Construction, Industry, Electricity and Energy Committee chaired by Kani Constituency Representative U Nyan Tun.
