The 29th anniversary celebration of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) was held at the Hotel Sheraton in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 8 June. The event was attended by heads of mission, chargés d’affaires and diplomats from BIMSTEC member states based in Dhaka, including Myanmar.


The celebration was organized with the aim of further strengthening friendship and regional cooperation among BIMSTEC member countries.


Myanmar’s Ambassador to Bangladesh U Kyaw Soe Moe attended the event, where Myanmar handicrafts were displayed as part of the exhibition.


The ceremony was graced by the presence of Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Shama Obaed Islam, as the guest of honour. Ms Shama Obaed Islam and BIMSTEC Secretary-General Mr Indra Mani Pandey delivered addresses at the event.


During the celebration, the Myanmar Embassy and the Office of the Defence Attaché showcased traditional Myanmar handicrafts and lacquerware, highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage.
