THE Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association (MEODA)’s coordination meeting emphasized structural analysis data and seismic hazard assessments for critical storage depots.

A coordination meeting between the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association and members of the Oil Depot Supervisory Committee was held on 29 May at the meeting hall of the MEODA, located on the 8th floor of UMFCCI on Min Ye Kyaw Swa Road, Yangon.

MEODA Vice-Chair U Htay Moe, and the leader of the Oil Depot Supervisory Committee, first delivered the opening remarks. U Tin Moe Aung, Deputy Head of the Yangon Region Consumer Affairs Department, also provided guidance on the programs that oil depots need to comply with.

A representative from Myanmar Inspection and Testing Services Ltd and responsible persons from various oil storage depots made presentations and discussions according to their respective business sectors. The vice-chairperson further elaborated that structural analysis data for oil storage depots constructed to withstand natural disasters and earthquakes should be compiled and validated by experts. He also added processing weigh scale calibration, systematically maintaining CCTV records, ensuring safety measures during the rainy season, verification of the integrity of oil transport vehicles, checking oil depot boundary walls for water leakage, matching physical inventory and book balances when depot inspections are conducted and working together with all relevant organizations. — NN/KK
