A ceremony to mark the commencement of electricity supply and the implementation of village electrification under the Magway Region Government’s Quick Win Plan was held yesterday morning in Magyisan Village, Magway Township.

The event was attended by Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Magway Region Hluttaw Speaker Dr Maung Maung Htay, regional ministers, departmental officials and residents.

During the ceremony, officials formally inaugurated the electricity supply by cutting the ribbon and activating the power switch. They then inspected electricity usage in the village and reviewed the initial operation of the power distribution system.

Speaking at the event, the chief minister said that efforts are underway to expand transmission lines and substations throughout the region to ensure a sufficient and reliable electricity supply. He added that since 2021, more than 569,469 households have gained access to electricity, representing 62.87 per cent of all households in the region. — Maung Khaing Min (IPRD)/KZL
