The Pathein Solar Project, which is initially intended to generate 30 megawatts, is now expected to expand the capacity to 90 MW depending on land availability, according to the Ayeyawady Region government.
The Ayeyawady Development Public Company Limited, which will implement the project, held a ceremony to present the Pathein Industrial Project and the 30 MW Solar Power Generation Project on 12 May at the regional government office.
Company officials gave a presentation about the monthly expected power generation, the connection with the national grid, the potential of solar energy availability, the project timeline and the preparations for the commencement of the project
During the ceremony, the regional chief minister thanked all the stakeholders involved in the project and added that the regional government is also focusing on providing an adequate power supply and enhancing regional economic growth, as well as the socioeconomic development of the public. For adequate power supply, the 10.5 MW hydropower project is now being implemented, and access to electricity is a major requirement for the public, he said. The regional government will help implement the project to achieve completion within the timeframe, in compliance with the rules and regulations.
The 30 MW solar generation power plant project is expected to commence on 26 May 2026 and be completed on 26 May 2027.
