FOLLOWING the successful holding of the 2025 multiparty democratic general elections, and with the emergence of the third-term Hluttaws as a new political landscape in Myanmar, a new democratic government, which was tasked with firmly building the foundations of democracy, was formed on 10 April 2026.
The new democratic government will continuously strive to uphold and promote justice, liberty, and equality within the State, and to ensure the enduring peace, stability, and prosperity of all ethnic nationalities. In addition, the new democratic government will place strong emphasis on fostering the spirit of the Union – a genuine form of patriotism based on ethnic equality – within the country, and on ensuring that all ethnic nationalities coexist in lasting unity and harmony.
The new democratic government will continue to build the future of the nation by relying on the unity and support of the people. Myanmar has now stepped back onto the path of democracy and is advancing toward a better future; therefore, efforts must be made to further strengthen the multiparty democratic system. The new government also faces many challenges, including global affairs, domestic issues, and political and economic difficulties.
These challenges across various sectors will be addressed and overcome through close and coordinated cooperation between the government and the people. Accordingly, the government’s objectives, policies, and positions will be presented to the public through the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw.
The new Government will continue to build a Union based on democracy and federal principles. In doing so, the Union Advisory Council has also been established in accordance with the law in order to enable inclusive contributions toward peace, democracy, and national reconciliation, and to support the State from a complementary position.
Myanmar must not only be able to stand on equal footing with other countries but also achieve greater development through the united and cooperative efforts of the Union Government, Tatmadaw, and the people. In pursuing these efforts, it is necessary to ensure that Myanmar’s political processes are free from external interference and to bring about national development and prosperity through open and sincere dialogue and problem-solving among ethnic groups and citizens.
Every person residing in the country is urged to contribute with love for the nation toward ensuring stability, the rule of law, and development. As sovereignty belongs to the citizens and is exercised throughout the entire country, it is now necessary to continue moving forward under the leadership of a people’s government elected by the people, for the people.
