On the full moon day of Kason in the Myanmar calendar year 1388, the 18th water-pouring ceremony was held yesterday evening.
Union Ministers and their wives poured water on the Maha Bodhi trees in the northern part of the Uppatasanti Pagoda precinct. The ceremony was attended by Union Ministers and their wives, the Auditor-General of the Union, the Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board and his wife, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, and the Chairman of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission and his wife. Also in attendance were members of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, various officials, and religious organizations.
The ceremony commenced with the chanting of “Namo Tassa” three times. Following this, the Union Ministers and their wives poured water onto the Maha Bodhi trees at the designated locations, sprinkled incense, and circumambulated the pagoda. — MNA/MKKS
