KHIT Thit Media has accused Col Aung Aung of issuing orders at Shwebo Prison to block political prisoners from receiving family members. These allegations were made in a post on the Khit Thit Media Facebook page at 7:07 am on 9 October.

However, after an investigation, it was revealed that there were no political prisoners held at Shwebo Prison. All inmates are individuals who have been convicted by courts for violating existing laws.

Starting from 24 October 2023, prisoners and their families have been granted visitation rights according to legal protocols. The only exceptions have been five inmates who violated prison rules and had their visitation rights temporarily suspended. The authorities emphasize that visitation rights are being processed fairly for all inmates, without discrimination.

The claim that Col Aung Aung ordered a blanket restriction on visitation has been found to be false. The post from Khit Thit Media is thus considered misleading, designed to spread falsehoods and cause public misunderstanding about the operations at Shwebo Prison.
