UNION Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, U Khin Maung Yi, stated during the opening ceremony of the 37th Research Seminar on 5 March at the Forest Research Department in Yezin that research must be conducted using new approaches to find solutions for the forestry and environmental issues facing the nation today.

In the mining sector, research must focus on achieving green mining and sustainable mining practices that minimize environmental degradation. Market-oriented research should also be explored. The ministry has established a Research Advisory Committee for Forestry, Mining, and the Environment. By integrating these three sectors, the Union minister expects more effective and beneficial research outcomes, urging researchers to strive for applied, beneficial results.

The seminar spanned two days, on 5 and 6 March. A total of 27 research papers on forestry, mining, and environmental conservation were presented and discussed.
