THE 64th Buddha Pujaniya Festival and rice offering ceremony will be held at the Shwephonepwint Pagoda in Pazundaung Township, Yangon, on 2 March (the full moon day of Taboung), according to the pagoda trustees.

The festival and rice offering ceremony will be held on the morning of the full moon day of Taboung, featuring a consecration ceremony and early morning alms offering to the Buddha and the Sayadaws.

In addition, a rice-offering ceremony will be held in the evening for the monks. The monks will proceed to Ward No 7 to receive donations, and the necessary arrangements will be made. “On the morning of the full moon day of Tabaung, there will be a ceremony to offer alms to the monks at the Sasana Jotika Dhamma Hall. In the evening, the alms rice offering ceremony will take place. The event will be led by 150 monks and 30 nuns, making a total of 180 participants. They will set out from U Shwe Gun Street, in front of the eastern archway of the pagoda, and proceed along Leikkan Street, Kwatthit Street, Zeya Street, Yekyaw Street, Zizawa Street, Dawna Street, Wutkyaung Street, Bogyoke Aung San Street, Eingyi Street, and U Shwe Gun Street, before returning to the eastern archway of the pagoda. After the event, a merit-sharing ceremony will be held at the Sasana Jotika Dhamma Hall in appreciation of the donations,” said U Shwe Soe, a member of the pagoda board of trustees.
