Daw Maw Maw, an English teacher at the Basic Education High School No 2, Mingaladon, Yangon, has received the Princess Maha Chakri Award for Outstanding Teachers 2025.
The teacher, who has been teaching English for more than 19 years, started her career in 2010 at the same school.
“We started the PMCA Project at our school in 2004. I’ve been a part of this project since 2010, when I moved here. I am in charge of the school for this project. This is my third attempt. The first time was in 2019, and the second attempt was online in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, I received an email that I had won a PMCA award. I’m very happy personally to have won this award. The rewards of the PMCA are not given to one person, but to the entire school community. We are going to use this money to help the children in the learning process”, Daw Maw Maw told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
She expressed her thanks to the PMCA Foundation and officials from the Ministry of Education. The award includes a medal, a gold pin, a cash prize of US$10,000 and a certificate.
The PMCA Foundation was established in honour of the 60th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and the PMCA is awarded every two years.
