It has rained heavily since the morning of 1 October in eastern Shan State, Tachilek, and the water level of the Mesai Creek has risen one foot above the danger level, leading to a situation where some wards of Tachilek located along the creek have been covered in water.
Due to a flood at Macao Kham ward, firefighters from the township fire station evacuated students from Shwe Maha private high school to a safer zone by three boats at about 10 am, said the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

On 27 July, some wards of Tachilek, such as Talot, Ponhtun, Sensai and Maekhong wards, were also flooded as a result of the continual increase in the creek water level due to heavy rainfall.
