BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at 3:30 pm MST today, the tropical storm Wipha crossing the inland areas of Vietnam is likely to move west-northwestwards and continue to cross the inland areas of Vietnam and weaken into a Land Depression over Laos during next 18 hours. Due to the remnants of tropical storm Wipha, heavy rain with strong wind will be in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan States from today evening to 25 July 2025.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF 23 JULY 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway and Ayeyawady Regions and Kayah, Rakhine and(southern and eastern) Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100 per cent.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine and (southern and eastern) Shan States. The area along the cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance of these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Frequent squalls with very rough seas will be experienced in the Deltaic, the Gulf of Mottama, off and along the Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 45 mile per hour. Wave height will be about 14-16 feet in the Deltaic, the Gulf of Mottama, off and along the Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along the Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 miles per hour. Wave height will be about 10-13 feet off and along Rakhine Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Rain or thundershowers with isolated and regionally heavy falls in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan States.
