Domestic and foreign investment is returning to the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, developed by Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings Public Co Ltd (MTSH), according to the company’s 13th annual general meeting held on 23 October.
MTSH’s partner company MJTD was able to lease 9.64 acres for the long term during the current financial year, ensuring readiness for infrastructure on 67.56 acres. This way, investors can begin construction and investment immediately, MTSH Chairman U Win Aung said. “Interested domestic and foreign factory operators constantly come to discuss with us,” he said.
MTSH is working to develop the manufacturing and logistics sectors, which play a pivotal role in the country’s sustained economic development. In financial year 2025-26, MTSH earned net profit of K11.4 billion, with the net profit margin rising to 106 per cent from 66 per cent recorded in the previous FY, according to the report.
“Amid economic changes, the business achieved revenue growth, and the board of directors decided to distribute a dividend of K150 per share for FY 2025-26. The company has also been able to proudly maintain its strong financial position and its image as a company that regularly pays dividends on the Yangon Stock Exchange,” CEO U Myint Zaw said.
The company group will prioritize expanding renewable energy production, managing assets for optimal use, improving regular income-generating capacity, and identifying new infrastructure and development opportunities that deliver long-term benefits.
At present, 104 domestic and foreign companies operate at least 24 types of businesses within the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. — TWA/KK
